About Gala Bay Springs Water Co.

Gala Bay Springs Water has been enjoyed by the members of the MacGilliviray family since 1996, when they discovered it on their private land in the Fraser Lake area of North Central British Columbia. Kim and Ken spread the word about their water to friends and family who encouraged them to start bottling it.

The classification and verifications by government approving agencies is arduous and costly. Bottled water is considered to be a food product and is regulated under the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations. These regulations include requirements for microbiological quality, composition and labelling. Other agencies like Health Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and provincial ministries and agencies also regulate and inspect bottled water. You can read more about the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Bottled Water Fact Sheet by clicking here (PDF file).

In 1996, the MacGilliviray artesian well was reclassified as a natural spring as it comes from an underground aquifer that flows from the Sutherland Mountain Range, located near Fraser Lake, in north central British Columbia. Since 2003 Gala Bay Springs Water Co. has been bottling and selling their water. As of 2006, Gala Bay Springs Water has been reclassified as PURE SPRING WATER. It does not require ozonation and has not been altered by humans in any way prior to reaching to our customers.

Gala Bay Springs currently serves over 500 customers in their local area, bottling 9,450 liters per week. Approximately one-half of their customers are businesses. As long time community members, and descendants of pioneers of the area, the MacGillivray's look forward to sharing their natural water with you.

"Gala Bay Springs Water Company is for sale. This is an excellent investment opportunity either to continue to run the business as it is and keep building as we are or you can keep the land and water as an investment in future water demands.
